Anti-discrimination policy
Last updated October 26, 2026
Everyone should feel welcome on HomeShared, whether they're booking a stay or hosting one.
Our commitment
Hosts may not decline a guest, cancel a booking, charge a different price, set different rules or treat a guest differently because of their race, color, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age (beyond requiring the person who books to be an adult), or any other characteristic protected by law.
Guests may not treat hosts differently for any of these reasons either.
What hosts can still decide
Hosts set house rules, a guest limit, pet rules and a cancellation policy for their home. Those are fine, as long as they apply to every guest the same way.
Service animals aren't pets: hosts must welcome them and can't charge pet fees for them (see service animals). Hosts describe their home's accessibility honestly and answer questions about it, but they can't turn someone away because of a disability.
Report discrimination
If you think a host or guest treated you differently for one of these reasons, email support@homeshared.app with the listing or reservation and what happened. Messages and screenshots help.
We review every report. A host or guest who breaks this policy may lose their listings or their HomeShared account.
