(Season is typically May – October, depending on weather) ★★ PARKING ★★ Parking at the property is somewhat limited. There is only room for a maximum of 2 cars in the driveway. There is nowhere else for you to park. Please look at other lodging options if you plan to bring more than 2 cars. Other things to note: ROADS/DRIVEWAY The roads are somewhat narrow and a few parts are steep/on an incline. They can also be dark at night. The cabin driveway is also a bit steep, narrow and has a small switchback. However, if you want to stay in the mountains you will have to navigate this with almost any property you book. Trust us, you will be a pro after you have driven the roads once! We encourage a four-wheel drive vehicle in the winter months due to the chance of snow. If it does snow, please be aware that the roads can freeze and the county isn't the best at clearing or salting the side roads. It's the South so it happens infrequently and they wait for it to melt. CELL SERVICE We will not lie. Cell service is almost non-existent here. You will maybe get one or two bars on the upper-level back deck and the main level deck. We do have high-speed internet though, so WIFI, Facetime, etc. calling is totally possible to stay connected. Although unplugging, relaxing and immersing yourself in nature is strongly encouraged! LOG CABIN QUIRKS This is a true log cabin! Therefore, it comes with its own quirks. There will be squeaking, popping, and other sounds that come along with the wood expanding and contracting, which is completely normal. The well water filtration system room also backs up to the main floor bedroom and makes its own sounds as it filters the cabin’s water. All of these sounds may startle one person or annoy another, so it is best to make you aware up front to make sure that the cabin experience is right for you. CRITTERS The cabin is less than 5 miles from the closest Smoky Mountain National Park side entrance. There are over 19,000 species that have been documented in the park and scientists believe another 80,000-100,000 species may live there. Therefore, a lot of those critters also reside in our neck of the woods. The cabin is treated monthly by a licensed pest control service, however, there is still the chance that a critter could make its way inside (for example: a bug) or outside (for example: a bear) of the cabin. It is just a part of forest living! BLINDS There are blinds and/or curtains in every single bedroom and the bunk/game room. There are no blinds anywhere else. We want our guests to be able to enjoy the treetops at all times in the common areas. We also do not want you to miss a potential bear walking on the deck! It happens. BUNK ROOM DOOR There is an exterior door attached to the bunk room. A door alarm system has been provided for guests to set so they are aware if the door has been opened. MOUNTAIN VIEW There are no long-range mountain views at this property. There is, however, a small, yet stunning, mountain peak view from the back decks. Guest access You’ll receive a personalized code for both the smart-lock door and the security system 48 hours before check-in. These codes allow for smooth, self-check-in at any time. Please double-check that you’ve received both codes before traveling. If they haven’t arrived 24 hours prior to your stay, just reach out — we’re happy to help. There’s nothing worse than arriving somewhere new (especially at night!) and not being able to get in, so we make sure access is simple and stress-free.
