Explore Downtown McKinney You're in one of the most charming spots in Texas — and we want to make sure you make the most of it. Downtown McKinney's historic square is lined with boutiques, antique shops, and art galleries, and the surrounding area has quietly become one of the best food and drink scenes in DFW. Food & Coffee Whether you're after a slow morning coffee or a late-night cocktail, McKinney has you covered. For coffee, we love Collective Coffee, Filtered, and the plant-filled Habitat Plants + Coffee. If pastries are your thing, make time for Bresnan Bread and Pastry — one of the highest-rated bakeries in DFW, and the croissants speak for themselves. Emporium Pies is another don't-miss. For brunch, Spoons and Urban Grill are reliable favorites, and Layered does a great daytime menu before transforming into Room 111 at night — a speakeasy with some of the best craft cocktails in the area. The Guava Tree is a highly-rated casual Cuban spot worth the stop, and Hugs Café is an award-winning lunch destination where 80% of the staff are adults with disabilities — a wonderful place to support. For dinner, Union Bear is our current favorite in McKinney. Cadillac Pizza and its sister spot The Yard both offer great food and outdoor patios. Harvest brings farm-to-table Texas charm, and Lockwood Distilling Co. pairs great food with house-made spirits. If you want a true Texas experience, Local Yocal and its sister burger spot LOYO deliver. For drinks and a scene, TUPPS Brewery anchors the east side of the square with brunch-to-dinner service and live events every weekend. Barons Creek Vineyards is a great wine stop with pizza and snacks. The Celt and The Pub is the go-to for late-night. And if you're firing up the pellet grill, swing by Hamm's on your way to the square to pick up fresh meats.
