Guest access Guests have access to their private room, the shared bathroom, spacious living area, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and all common areas of the home. The fridge space is assigned by room, please only use your assigned fridge space. The freezer space is not assigned so we ask all guest to label the items in there.  The kitchen is stocked with cookware, dishes, utensils, a refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, and ample counter space for preparing meals. Since this is a shared home, we kindly ask that you only use these provided toiletries and not any personal items belonging to the host or other guests. Laundry Service Laundry is available as a convenient service for $6 per load, to fold its an extra $2 per load. $3 to wash $3 to dry. for 2 loads $9 + fold of requested. If you would like to use the laundry service, please notify us at least one day in advance. Place your laundry in a bag outside your room at the scheduled time. Payment can be made in cash or through Airbnb, ones payment is confirmed our cleaner will collect your laundry, wash and dry it, and return it before the end of the day whenever possible. Please remember that quiet hours are observed throughout the home to ensure a peaceful environment for everyone. And even outside of quiet hours please avoid making excessive noise. Please dispose of trash properly and respect the shared spaces for the next guest.  As this is a historic home, some features reflect the property's age and unique character while still offering modern updates and amenities. Minor imperfections are part of the charm and should be expected. Quiet Hours To ensure a comfortable stay for everyone, quiet hours are observed from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM. During quiet hours, we ask that guests: * Close doors gently and avoid slamming them. * Keep voices, music, and television volumes low. * Walk quietly, especially when using the stairs. * Avoid showering, running laundry, or engaging in other noisy activities that may disturb other guests. * Be mindful when arriving late or leaving early, as sound travels easily throughout the home. Fragrances We freshen guest rooms between stays using air fresheners, candles, and plug-in air fresheners. If you have sensitivities or allergies to fragrances, please let us know before booking or remind us the day before your arrival. We will do our best to minimize scented products before your check-in; however, we cannot guarantee a completely fragrance-free environment. AIR CONDITIONING & TEMPERATURE This home has central air conditioning. During warmer weather, the AC automatically turns on when the indoor temperature reaches approximately 79°F or higher. We generally aim to keep the home around 74–79°F. If you prefer or require your room to remain significantly colder than this, please keep this in mind before booking. On cooler or mild days, when the outdoor temperature is already comfortable enough to naturally cool the home, the AC will automatically turned off and windows can be used for ventilation. For example, if it is around 74°F outside, we may use the cooler outdoor air rather than run the AC. During periods of extreme heat or heat waves, especially when outdoor temperatures reach the high 80s or 90s+, the AC will be running. However, it may take longer to cool the home, and upstairs bedrooms may temporarily be warmer than our normal range even while the AC is running. We work hard to keep our rooms affordable, especially for guests looking for a budget-friendly stay in Chicago. To help us continue offering these lower rates, we kindly ask for everyone's cooperation in being mindful of energy use, including keeping windows and exterior doors closed while the AC is running and not expecting the home to be maintained at unusually cold temperatures. While we do our best to maintain a comfortable environment, we cannot guarantee an exact temperature at all times due to weather conditions.
