The room is located within a shared historic home where guests have access to the fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, shared bathroom, dining area, laundry service and other common spaces. Laundry Service can be requested during your stay for $8 per load, which is the cost to do laundry. Guest access Guests have access to their private room as well as the shared bathroom, spacious living area, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, and other common areas of the home. Kitchen & Food Storage The shared kitchen is fully equipped with cookware, dishes, utensils, a refrigerator, microwave, stove, oven, dishwasher, and ample counter space for preparing meals. Refrigerator space is assigned by room. Please only use the refrigerator space assigned to you. If your private room includes its own refrigerator, that refrigerator will serve as your assigned fridge and freezer space. Shared Bathroom The shared bathroom includes complimentary ammenites for guest use. Because the bathroom is shared, we kindly ask guests to use only the complimentary toiletries provided for everyone and not personal products belonging to the host or other guests. Laundry Service For your convenience, we offer an optional laundry service for $10 per standard load, which includes washing, drying, and laundry detergent. The washer and dryer are not available for guests to operate directly. Rather than paying to use the machines and doing the laundry yourself, we take care of the washing and drying for you. We try to keep our laundry price fair and comparable to what you might already spend washing and drying a load at a laundromat, where the washer and dryer are typically charged separately. With our service, you also have the convenience of not having to operate the machines or wait for your laundry to finish. If you have allergies or sensitive skin, please let us know. We provide detergent, but you are welcome to provide your own preferred detergent if needed. If you would like to use the laundry service, please notify us at least one day in advance. At the scheduled time, place your laundry in a bag outside your room. Payment can be made in cash or through Airbnb. Once payment is confirmed, our cleaner will collect your laundry, wash and dry it, and return it before the end of the day whenever possible. If you would also like your clothes folded, folding is optional and available for an additional $3 per load. Our laundry service is completely optional. AIR CONDITIONING & TEMPERATURE This home has central air conditioning. During warmer weather, the AC automatically turns on when the indoor temperature reaches approximately 79°F or higher. We generally aim to keep the home around 74–76°F. If you prefer or require your room to remain significantly colder than this, please keep this in mind before booking. On cooler or mild days, when the outdoor temperature is already comfortable enough to naturally cool the home, the AC will automatically turn off and windows can be used for ventilation. For example, if it is around 74°F outside, we may use the cooler outdoor air rather than run the AC. During periods of extreme heat or heat waves, especially when outdoor temperatures reach the high 80s or 90s+, the AC will be running. However, it may take longer to cool the home, and upstairs bedrooms may temporarily be warmer than our normal range even while the AC is running. We work hard to keep our rooms affordable, especially for guests looking for a budget-friendly stay in Chicago. To help us continue offering these lower rates, we kindly ask for everyone's cooperation in being mindful of energy use, including keeping windows and exterior doors closed while the AC is running and not expecting the home to be maintained at unusually cold temperatures.
