Between March and May or even until June, visitors can appreciate a unique spectacle in which the coast is dyed silver for a few seconds. The Grunion/Pejerrey (Leuresthes Sardina) is a relative species of sardines that measures between 11 and 15 centimeters, its body is translucent and has a silver stripe. To mate, it is carried away by the waves to the beaches where the females bury themselves in the sand and lay eggs (between 1,000 and 3,000), while the males surround them to fertilize them. After this process, which lasts about 30 seconds, females and males return to the sea. In the spring season, females spawn up to six times, usually occurring between one and six days after each full moon or new moon
