Cooling and Heating Tower fans are provided throughout the cabin to help keep you comfortable during the summer. Please note that the property does not have air conditioning. The cabin is equipped with central heating and an electric fireplace for warmth during the colder months. However, both systems require electricity and will not operate during a power outage. 2. Wildlife and Insects South Lake Tahoe is home to a variety of wildlife, including bears, coyotes, raccoons, ants, and mice. Wildlife sightings are possible in and around the property. For your safety, please follow these precautions: * Never approach, feed, or attempt to interact with bears or other wildlife. * Keep vehicle doors locked and remove all food and scented items from your vehicle. * Keep the downstairs bedroom window closed, as bears can climb. * Never leave food unattended on the deck. * Store food securely and dispose of trash properly. Due to the cabin’s natural mountain setting, guests may occasionally encounter ants, spiders, flies, bees, mice, and other insects or wildlife. These encounters are possible in the area, despite reasonable preventive measures. Please report any significant pest concerns to the host promptly. 3. Electricity and Power Outages Power outages and electrical interruptions may occur, particularly during severe weather. The property does not have a backup generator. During a power outage, electricity, central heating, the electric fireplace, and other electrical amenities may be unavailable. Utility interruptions may be beyond the host’s control. Please plan accordingly, especially during winter stays. Any refund or credit request will be handled in accordance with the applicable booking platform’s policies and the terms of your reservation. 4. Weather and Travel Conditions Weather in South Lake Tahoe can change quickly, particularly during the winter. Snow, ice, road closures, flight delays, and wildfire-related smoke or poor air quality may affect your travel plans. Guests are responsible for monitoring local weather forecasts, road conditions, and travel advisories before and during their stay. Please be aware that snow removal and road clearing depend on the responsible agency’s schedule and weather conditions. Delays may occur after significant snowfall. 5. Winter Travel and Snow Removal If you plan to visit during winter, please prepare for possible snow, ice, and limited access to the property. We strongly recommend: * Traveling in a four-wheel-drive (4WD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD) vehicle when conditions warrant. * Carrying properly sized tire chains and knowing how to install them. * Checking current road conditions and California chain-control requirements before departure. * Allowing extra travel time and keeping emergency supplies in your vehicle. Driveway snow removal depends on weather conditions and the availability and timing of snow-removal services. Access may be delayed during or after a snowstorm. Apalachee Red Cabin cannot guarantee that roads or the driveway will remain accessible during severe weather. Refund requests related to weather or travel disruptions are subject to the applicable booking platform’s policies and the terms of your reservation. 6. Trip and Cancellation Insurance We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers trip cancellation, interruption, and other unforeseen circumstances. This is especially important for winter reservations, when snowstorms, road closures, and other weather-related disruptions may affect travel plans. Please review your policy carefully to understand its coverage and exclusions. 7. Vehicle and Parking Considerations Winter driving conditions in South Lake Tahoe may require additional preparation. Please ensure your vehicle is suitable for the forecast conditions and comply with all applicable chain requirements. Guests should plan ahead for potential towing needs, road restrictions, and driveway access issues. The property does not guarantee vehicle access during severe weather. 8. Exterior Security Cameras For property security, two Ring cameras are installed outdoors: * Front entrance: Facing the street. * Driveway: Facing the driveway and vehicle access area. The cameras record motion when activated. They are intended for exterior security and are not installed to monitor private indoor spaces. Please contact the host if you have questions about their placement or operation. 9. Booking Requirements and Security Deposit We look forward to welcoming you to Apalachee Red Cabin!
