I worked from here for 8 days. The desk and the wifi were up to the job. We loved Fort Greene's Saturday farmers' market and Prospect Park, both close by. The garden is a real oasis. The best kind of office.

The parlor and garden floors of an 1890s brownstone on one of Bed-Stuy's landmarked blocks, with the original mahogany woodwork, pocket doors, two marble fireplaces and twelve-foot ceilings. Two bedrooms, a kitchen opening onto a garden with a grill and a table under a fig tree, and a stoop for the evening. Herbert Von King park is two blocks away, the A/C and G trains a seven-minute walk, Manhattan 25 minutes. The block has a bakery, a bodega with excellent sandwiches and neighbours who say hello. Inside: 2 bedrooms sleeping up to 4 (bedroom 1: 1 king bed; bedroom 2: 1 queen bed) and 1 and a half bathrooms. There is a washer and dryer, a dishwasher, a proper desk and air conditioning in every room, and fast wifi throughout. Expect proper heating, thick duvets and a drying rack by the door. Check-in is from 4 pm with a keypad on the door; checkout is by 11 am. Street parking is free and usually easy. No pets, please. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am, as the neighbours live here all year.

I grow flowers and vegetables on twelve acres outside Hudson and keep two Brooklyn brownstone floors from my previous life as an editor. The farm places get eggs and whatever is in season; the Brooklyn ones get a very good bagel recommendation. Ten years hosting, still love it.

Our second time here and it was even better. Our favourite thing was the original 1890s woodwork and the stoop. Firewood was stacked and ready, which we appreciated. Hannah left a welcome note and a list of favourites that we used every day.

Check-in was smooth and the instructions were clear. Firewood was stacked and ready, which we appreciated. The bed is extremely comfortable. Don't miss Fort Greene's Saturday farmers' market; Hannah pointed us there and it was the best thing we did. Would stay again.

Three generations under one roof and nobody got on anyone's nerves, which says a lot about the layout. We lit the fire every evening. Hannah told us about Fort Greene's Saturday farmers' market and Prospect Park; both were excellent. Parking is tricky, as the listing warns; plan for it.

This house understands what a visit to Brooklyn should feel like. Firewood was stacked and ready, which we appreciated. Hannah's tips were spot on, especially Fort Greene's Saturday farmers' market. Special mention for the original 1890s woodwork and the stoop.

Lovely house in a great spot. The kitchen is properly equipped, which almost never happens. Hannah was quick to answer and full of good tips.
