Peaceful Oasis Near Lake, Hyde Park & Obama Center

South Shore Oasis is a 750 ft² basement suite with a private keypad entrance in an owner-occupied home. Just south of Hyde Park, it’s ¼ mile from the lakefront and 2.5 miles from the Obama Presidential Center, with UChicago nearby. Quiet, private and comfortable, it works well for campus, medical, McCormick Place or Soldier Field stays, or exploring Chicago. Metra and CTA are a short walk away, with direct service to OPC, McCormick Place and downtown. 488 characters. The space South Shore Oasis occupies the lower level (basement) of my home. The suite has been recently refreshed and gives guests the space and practical comforts needed for both short visits and longer stays. The suite includes: * A spacious 750-square-foot layout * A comfortable queen bed * A queen air mattress available for registered third and fourth guests * A dedicated workspace for remote work or study * High-speed Wi-Fi * A spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower * Ample closet and storage space * A private in-unit washer and dryer The kitchenette includes a full-size refrigerator, microwave, air fryer, French press, Nespresso machine and standard coffee maker. It works well for breakfast, coffee and light meals. Please note that the kitchenette does not include a stovetop, hot plate or oven. Guest access Guests have private access to the entire lower-level (basement) suite through a separate secure keypad entrance on the side of the house. The suite is most comfortable for one or two guests but can accommodate up to four registered guests using the queen air mattress. A few important house guidelines: * All overnight guests must be registered * The couch is not intended for sleeping * No smoking or vaping of any kind is permitted on the property I live upstairs and am available if you need assistance, while respecting your privacy throughout your stay. Other things to note The guest entrance is the blue door through the gate on the left side of the house, as shown in the photos. Metra and CTA service are a short walk away, offering convenient access to the Obama Presidential Center, Hyde Park, McCormick Place, Soldier Field and downtown Chicago. Free street parking is available. The six spaces just north of the house are permit-free. If those are taken, you’ll find visitor passes in the kitchenette drawer for the other spaces on the block; permits are only required Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
