The Hunger Games scene with Katniss and Gale was shot at the Pisgah National Forest. - 28 miles to the Biltmore Estate and the Botanical Gardens in Asheville. - 26 miles to the Harrah's Cherokee Center in Asheville & to the Folk Art Center. - 10 minutes from Bat Cave 🥾 Hiking & Waterfalls - Pisgah National Forest with over 500,000 acres and 10,000 acres at DuPont State Recreational Forest. Hiking, biking, horse trails, waterfalls and mountain views. - Chimney Rock State Park - With ample opportunities to learn and explore, along with hiking trails, climbing opportunities, and exciting ways to break a sweat and stay fit, you’re in for a bit of learning, and a bit of fitness. 💦 Waterfall Favorites • Hickory Nut Falls: One of our favorites! Enjoy a scenic 1.4-mile hike leading to a beautiful waterfall that’s well worth the trek. • Pearson’s Falls: Located in Saluda, this stunning waterfall is another great option and definitely worth a visit. EASY ACCESS- No 4WD or AWD needed (weather permitting). No steep inclines or rough roads to reach our home. Other things to note Lake lure is reopen! (boating, fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, canoe, swimming)! We are in a gated neighborhood, the gate is open 9am-6pm--after these hours you need to call us to be let in. Please note, we aren't able to accommodate check in's past 10pm. The beautiful Chimney Rock State Park and mountain trails are open, and the quaint, riverside town of Chimney Rock is welcoming visitors to its many shops and restaurants. The lake will be open for boating and swimming in late spring 2026! December-March has the potential to bring snow and ice, please consider your vehicle capability when booking during this time. NATURE NOTE: Being surrounded by the woods means you’re truly one with nature! While we do have regular pest control, you may still encounter a few adventurous insects. We try to accommodate early check in’s for $25 per hour and can confirm only on the day of check in. Unfortunately, we can’t accommodate late check outs. Unapproved early check-in or late check-out will result in a $50 hourly fee. Shipping to the house is not guaranteed, since the home is not a primary residence, mail is forwarded. --- Traveling with a larger group? Consider adding the cabin next door!
