Boutique Stay • Pool + Rooftop • Walk to Beach

Welcome to The Mara by AvantStay. A coastal hideaway one block above the Pacific, this boutique Laguna Beach hotel pairs relaxed California design with effortless access to hidden coves, galleries, and golden-hour views. 🌊 One block to the sand, with beach gear on hand for spur-of-the-moment swims 🏊 Outdoor pool and hot tub — a rare luxury this close to the water 🌅 Rooftop terrace with sweeping ocean views built for sunset The space Set one block from the sand in Laguna's Pearl District, The Mara is the kind of place where the ocean air seems to follow you indoors. This 66-room boutique hotel leans into easygoing California design — palm-lined paths, terracotta rooftops, light that lingers — and puts you a short walk from the coves, galleries, and cafés that make this stretch of coast worth slowing down for. Mornings start however you want them to. Take your coffee out toward the water, then drift down to Woods Cove or Pearl Street Beach for a swim before the crowds find them. Afternoons are for wandering — Laguna's galleries and boutiques, a long lunch, or the trolley into the heart of downtown. As the light turns gold, the rooftop terrace becomes the place to be, with some of the best ocean views in town. The Coastal Queen comes with its own balcony — a private spot to take your morning coffee, catch the breeze, or wind down as the light softens over the neighborhood. Inside, a queen bed and the same calm, coastal-cool palette that runs through the hotel make it an easy place to land at the end of the day. Beyond the room, the communal spaces pull people together: the outdoor pool and hot tub make a natural social hub — a rare luxury this close to the beach — and the coastal lobby keeps things relaxed with complimentary coffee and tea, a self-serve amenity station, and beach gear you're welcome to borrow on your way out the door. It's a setup that works for a quiet weekend or a full-on celebration. Book a handful of rooms or take over the whole property for a wedding, a retreat, or a milestone worth marking — a dedicated team and trusted local partners handle the logistics so you don't have to think about them. And then there's everything just outside. Walk to dinner at Mozambique or Splashes, browse the galleries downtown, or follow the blufftop trails and tide pools at Heisler Park. Crystal Cove State Park, Pelican Hill Golf Club, and Dana Point Harbor are all a short drive up or down the coast, each one a good reason to keep exploring. At The Mara, the formula is refreshingly simple: a beautiful setting, thoughtful design, and a stay as easy as the breeze coming off the water. The Mara sits in the Pearl District - one of Laguna Beach's most walkable and residential coastal neighborhoods. It's south of the main downtown core, which gives guests a quieter base while still being within a short walk or trolley ride of everything.
