Honestly one of the best places we have stayed. You wake up to that view. Enough said. A sunrise surf at The Pass, as recommended, was a highlight. Book it.

A hardwood treehouse my brother and I built over three winters, eight metres up in the rainforest canopy on our land in the hinterland. One big room with a king bed, a kitchen along the wall, a bathroom with a rain shower and, out on the deck, a bath you fill and sit in while the whipbirds and the kookaburras do their thing. There is a fire pit at the bottom of the steps and a hammock strung between two figs. Byron's beaches, the lighthouse walk and the Thursday farmers' market are ten minutes by car; Bangalow village five. Starry nights are guaranteed. The treehouse sleeps 2 across 1 bedroom (bedroom 1: 1 king bed), with 1 bathroom. There is a proper desk and ceiling fans, and fast wifi throughout. Check-in is from 3 pm with a lockbox by the door; checkout is by 10 am. There is off-street parking for your car. No pets, please. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am, as the neighbours live here all year. We ask for a minimum of 2 nights.

Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia
We are in the hinterland behind Byron, where the rainforest meets the macadamia farms and the ocean is a 10-minute drive. Mornings start with whipbirds and bush turkeys; evenings with a glass of wine watching the light go off the hills. The lighthouse walk and the town's cafés and markets are an easy drive.

Builder by trade, Bondi lifesaver on weekends, Byron hinterland escapee whenever I can manage it. I built the Byron treehouse with my brother over three winters. Surfboards and wetsuits are in every place; help yourself, and ask me where the swell is working.

Third stay. That tells you what you need to know. The outdoor bath in the canopy: that is what we will remember. The photos are accurate; if anything it is nicer in person. Communication with Jack was effortless.

Byron hinterland is the right part of Byron Bay to stay in, and this is the right house in it. The bed is extremely comfortable. Don't miss a sunrise surf at The Pass; Jack pointed us there and it was the best thing we did. Our favourite thing was the outdoor bath in the canopy.

I worked from here for 5 days. The desk and the wifi were up to the job. We loved a sunrise surf at The Pass and Wategos beach, both close by. The photos are accurate; if anything it is nicer in person. Would happily do another month.

Clean, comfortable, well located. Spotless, bright and exactly as described. Jack was quick to answer and full of good tips.
