A Queenslander farmhouse on forty acres of macadamia orchard in the hills behind Byron, with a wraparound veranda, a pool looking down the valley to the sea, and a kitchen big enough for a family Christmas. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a fireplace for the winter evenings and a fire pit for the summer ones. Kangaroos graze the lawn at dusk; the orchard is yours to walk. The beaches are fifteen minutes, Bangalow village eight. Dogs are welcome on the farm, kids are welcome in the orchard, and macadamias are free. The farmhouse sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms (bedroom 1: 1 queen bed; bedroom 2: 1 double bed; bedroom 3: 1 queen bed; bedroom 4: 1 double bed, 1 single bed), with 2 bathrooms. There is a washer and dryer, a dishwasher, air conditioning in every room and a fireplace, and fast wifi throughout. Check-in is from 3 pm with a lockbox by the door; checkout is by 10 am. There is off-street parking for your car. Well-behaved pets are welcome (2 at most). Quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am, as the neighbours live here all year. We ask for a minimum of 3 nights.

We are in the hinterland behind Byron, where the rainforest meets the macadamia farms and the ocean is a 10-minute drive. Mornings start with whipbirds and bush turkeys; evenings with a glass of wine watching the light go off the hills. The lighthouse walk and the town's cafés and markets are an easy drive.
