A one-room cedar cabin on two acres of old-growth forest between the beaches, with a wood stove, a bed facing a wall of windows onto the trees, a soaking tub, and a wood-fired sauna thirty steps down the path. Rain on the roof is the soundtrack from October to March, and it is wonderful. Chesterman and Cox Bay beaches are both a five-minute drive or a 20-minute cycle; the village ten minutes. We leave firewood, kindling and a thermos for the sauna. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, room for 2. Bedroom 1: 1 queen bed. There is a washing machine, a proper desk and a wood stove, and fast wifi throughout. Check-in is from 4 pm with a lockbox by the door; checkout is by 11 am. There is off-street parking for your car. No pets, please. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am, as the neighbours live here all year. We ask for a minimum of 2 nights.

Chesterman Beach is Tofino's long crescent of sand between the rainforest and the open Pacific, 5 km south of the village. Surfers at both ends, tide pools at low tide, storm watching from November to February, and the Tofino–Ucluelet bike path at the end of our lane.

ER nurse, Kitsilano local, Tofino addict. The beach houses out there are where we spend every week off. Things are practical in my places: a drying rack for wetsuits, a first aid kit that is actually stocked, blackout blinds, decent knives. I answer messages on my breaks.

I worked from here for 5 days. The desk and the wifi were up to the job. Emma's tips were spot on, especially the surf at Cox Bay. Good speakers and good books. We stayed in more than we planned. The best kind of office.

Easy self check-in, clear directions, no surprises. A sauna after a day outside is a very good idea, it turns out. The bed is extremely comfortable. Emma's tips were spot on, especially the surf at Cox Bay. Would stay again.
