Lovely riad in a great spot. Sunset from the roof with a glass of wine was our ritual. Youssef left a welcome note and a list of favourites that we used every day.

Our family riad, ten minutes on foot from Jemaa el-Fnaa, behind a cedar door in a quiet derb. Inside: a courtyard with four orange trees and a small pool, zellige tilework, carved plaster, four bedrooms on two floors around the courtyard, and a roof terrace with daybeds and a view across the medina to the Koutoubia minaret and, on clear days, the snow on the Atlas. Breakfast is on the roof each morning (msemen, amlou, fresh juice, mint tea). Fatima and Hamid are at the house every day; I cook dinner on request. The souks, the Bahia palace and the Ben Youssef madrasa are all within a ten-minute walk. The riad sleeps 8 across 4 bedrooms (bedroom 1: 1 queen bed; bedroom 2: 1 double bed; bedroom 3: 1 double bed; bedroom 4: 1 queen bed, 1 single bed), with 4 bathrooms. There is a proper desk, air conditioning in every room and a fireplace, and fast wifi throughout. It stays cool inside even in the hottest months. Check-in is from 2 pm with our staff, who are at the house every day; checkout is by 11 am. You won't need a car here. No pets, please. Quiet hours are 11 pm to 8 am, as the neighbours live here all year. We ask for a minimum of 2 nights.

We are in the medina, a ten-minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa, in a derb (lane) that is quiet behind its heavy door. The spice souk, the Ben Youssef madrasa and the Jardin Secret are all close. Prices in the souks are negotiable; the orange juice on the square is not, and it is excellent.

I grew up in the medina and trained as a cook in Lyon before coming home to run my family's riad. Breakfast is included at both riads and I cook dinner on request (the tangia takes all day; order it in the morning). My team, Fatima and Hamid, are at the house every day.

This riad understands what a visit to Marrakech should feel like. You wake up to that view. Enough said. Youssef told us about a tagine at Nomad and the Jardin Secret; both were excellent. Youssef's breakfast of msemen and amlou on the roof: that is what we will remember.

Third stay. That tells you what you need to know. Youssef's breakfast of msemen and amlou on the roof: that is what we will remember. The wifi held up for a week of video calls. Youssef was quick to answer and full of good tips.

Beautiful place. Clean, quiet, good location. Parking is tricky, as the listing warns; plan for it. Recommend!

I worked from here for 5 days. Fast wifi, a proper chair, good light: everything a laptop week needs. We loved a tagine at Nomad and the Jardin Secret, both close by. The kitchen is properly equipped, which almost never happens. The best kind of office. Communication with Youssef was effortless.
