A timber-frame chalet on the quiet residential side of Banff town, with Cascade Mountain filling the end of the street and a hot tub on the deck for the stars. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a great room with a stone fireplace and a twelve-foot table, a boot room with heated racks and a garage for the skis and bikes. Banff Avenue is a ten-minute walk, the Bow River trail five, the Upper Hot Springs five by car. Sunshine and Lake Louise are 20 and 45 minutes. Elk graze the lawn in October; the house comes with bear spray and a park pass holder. Inside: 4 bedrooms sleeping up to 8 (bedroom 1: 1 queen bed; bedroom 2: 1 double bed; bedroom 3: 1 queen bed, 1 single bed; bedroom 4: 1 bunk bed) and 3 bathrooms. There is a washer and dryer, a dishwasher, a wood stove and an EV charger, and fast wifi throughout. Expect proper heating, thick duvets and a drying rack by the door. Check-in is from 4 pm with a keypad on the door; checkout is by 10 am. Parking is free at the house. No pets, please. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am, as the neighbours live here all year. We ask for a minimum of 3 nights.

We are on the quiet residential side of Banff town, a 10-minute walk from Banff Avenue and the Bow River trail, with Cascade Mountain filling the end of the street and elk occasionally wandering through the yard. Lake Louise is 45 minutes, Johnston Canyon 25, and the Upper Hot Springs 5.

I fly a Beaver into the backcountry for a living and grew up in Canmore, which is where the Banff places come from. My partner Leah runs the Anchorage houses while I am away. We leave bear spray, binoculars and a tide table in every place.

We stayed with our two kids and it worked perfectly. The hot tub under the stars was worth the trip on its own. Ben told us about Moraine Lake and Lake Louise at dawn; both were excellent. Ben left a welcome note and a list of favourites that we used every day.

Six of us for a long weekend and the place handled it with ease. The bed is extremely comfortable. Elk on the lawn and the hot tub under the stars: that is what we will remember. Communication with Ben was effortless.

Easy self check-in, clear directions, no surprises. We ended every night in the hot tub. The kitchen is properly equipped, which almost never happens. Don't miss Moraine Lake; Ben pointed us there and it was the best thing we did. Would stay again.

We loved every minute here. Sunset from the terrace with a glass of wine was our ritual. We loved Moraine Lake and Lake Louise at dawn, both close by. Already planning to come back. Ben met us at the door and had thought of everything.
