A two-storey house of woven bamboo on the steep bank above the Ayung river in Sayan, with the bedroom at canopy level and the river rushing below all night. An open living deck, an outdoor bathroom with a rain shower and a copper tub, and a small plunge pool cut into the slope. It is a ten-minute drive to Ubud centre (or forty on foot through the villages), and a world of its own once the gate closes. Breakfast arrives on the deck. Bring sandals for the steps and leave the laptop at home. 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, room for 2. Bedroom 1: 1 queen bed. There is a proper desk and air conditioning in every room, and fast wifi throughout. Mornings and evenings are the time to be outside here; the middle of the day is for the shade. Check-in is from 2 pm with our staff, who are at the house every day; checkout is by 11 am. You won't need a car here. No pets, please. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 7 am, as the neighbours live here all year.
