A romantic retreat for 2 or perfect solo getaway, Buttercup’s a 1br/1bath dream cottage. Once a one-room 1900s schoolhouse, this big “tiny” house punches above its weight with full kitchen, woodburning stove, queen-size bed, smart TV and meditative view into the woods from the breezeway. Tons of nearby trails in the Shawangunks. Grab a bite in up-and-coming Ellenville. Under 30 mins, you can explore Stone Ridge, Kerhonkson, New Paltz and High Falls. We betcha won’t leave Buttercup much though. The space What’s special about Buttercup: Surrounded by woods and fields on three sides, Buttercup is a country-quiet opportunity to retreat in a historic 1900 schoolhouse. Located five minutes up a ridge from Ellenville on a sleepy road, Buttercup is completely renovated to include: • One bedroom with a (dreamy) queen size bed, antique Moroccan chandelier, comfy mattress, high-end linens, plenty of pillows. • One bathroom with a walk-in shower, places to store your toiletries, fluffy towels and plenty of them! • A charming full kitchen with a vintage enamel sit-down table. • Living room with comfy couch, armchair, wood-burning stove and smart TV, as well as a desk and chair. • In the warm-weather months, room air conditioning keeps the entire house comfy. Warm throws, plush comforters, excellent heating and a wood-burning stove make it a wonderful cool-weather retreat. • A lovely, semi-enclosed breezeway provides wooded views and a place to eat outdoors. • Quality coffee and tea selections, sweeteners, shelf-stable creamer, and kitchen basics (flour, sugar, oil, spices, etc.), as well as shampoo, conditioner, body and hand soap. • Convenient, keyless access. • Free wi-fi. • Private driveway parking. • A commissioned mural of—you guessed it—buttercups adorns the outside of this special place. Guests with physical challenges should be aware that while Buttercup is one floor, there are several steps up the patio to the front door. Other things to note: I (Kim) welcome your questions, texts and communicate with you virtually from my primary home in Brooklyn (unless I get lucky and steal away to enjoy a few days myself at this sweet cottage!), but I have on-the-ground managers. Because we are in a fairly remote area, we have one security camera in the outdoor breezeway pointing toward the driveway and street. It in no way captures anything indoors or even in the living areas of the breezeway. Additional rules: • Buttercup may not be a good fit if you have small children. It has a wood-burning stove in a small space. • No candles, incense or smoking of any kind (no vaping, no weed). You are welcome to smoke outside. • No pets of any kind.
