Where history, nature, and heart come together. Welcome to The Tack Shed at the TLC Sanctuary — a place to unplug, unwind, and reconnect with nature, animals, and yourself. Tucked away in the stunning Verde Valley of Cornville, Arizona, our peaceful retreat sits along the banks of beautiful Oak Creek, just minutes from the charming community of Page Springs, affectionately known as Arizona Wine Country. The space TLC Sanctuary isn’t just a tranquil getaway — it’s also an accidental animal sanctuary and registered private nature conservancy, one of only six of its kind in the entire state. Every stay directly supports the care, feeding, and rehabilitation of nearly 60 rescued animals, with all proceeds dedicated to giving them the safe, beautiful lives they deserve. A Place with Deep Roots Our 10.5-acre property carries more than a century of Arizona history. Originally homesteaded on April 21, 1888, it has been home to pioneers who helped shape the Verde Valley. One of the most notable residents was Major Wilmot Whitworth Midgley, who lived here from 1917 to 1921. As the area’s only blacksmith, he likely built both the historic barn and tack shed that still stand proudly today. The iconic Midgley Bridge in Sedona — connecting to Oak Creek Canyon — was named in his honor. Nature at Its Best The Sanctuary embraces a serene 3-acre pond, registered with The Nature Conservancy of Arizona. Wander our private trails and bridges, where you’ll discover secret corners of beauty leading to Oak Creek’s private shoreline, offering hundreds of feet of peaceful, natural access. Birdwatchers and photographers will find this a true paradise — with over 120 species of wild birds spotted here, including owls, cranes, eagles, hawks, falcons, and many more. You might even glimpse deer, bobcats, ringtails, javelinas, or raccoons roaming freely through the property. Meet the Sanctuary Family Beyond the wild visitors, TLC Sanctuary is home to a joyful, diverse community of rescued and surrendered animals — each with a unique story and spirit. From horses, donkeys, and mules to mini-ponies, cows, goats, sheep, peacocks, turkeys, and chickens. Every animal here has found a second chance and a forever home. The Sanctuary’s owner lives in a nearby home on the property, caring for the animals daily and tending to the land. While we respect your peace and privacy, we’re always happy to offer guided tours or friendly introductions to our animal family — or simply share a warm wave across the pasture. Our Mission: At TLC Sanctuary, our mission is simple yet profound: To ensure that every animal who comes here is treated with dignity, love, respect, and honor for the rest of their lives. Your visit, your stay, and your presence here make a real difference. Together, we create a space where all living beings — human and animal alike — can feel safe, loved, and free to thrive. Guest access Free parking right next to the Tack Shed. Once you pull into the property….drive down the single lane past the main house on your right. The tack shed is up the hill on your left. The entrance door is the right door on the front of the building. Other things to note If you are bringing a service animal please add your dog to the reservation when booking as there are fees as special linens are used. TY If you’d like to schedule a Farm Tour during your visit, please schedule with your host/owner BEFORE your arrival. Farm tours are hands on with the animals here at lasts about an hour. A $50 donation to the sanctuary is requested for this time. Thank you! ~ TLC
