Sixth floor, with a lift (rare up here), and the white dome of the Sacré-Cœur filling the living room window across the rooftops. A small balcony holds two chairs and a coffee pot. The rest is classic Paris: parquet, a marble fireplace, tall windows and a bedroom at the back over a quiet courtyard. Montmartre is a village with a hill in the middle of it. Abbesses metro, the Rue des Martyrs food street and the Saturday market are at the bottom; the vineyard, the square and the view are at the top. Both are a five-minute walk. The apartment sleeps 3 across 1 bedroom (bedroom 1: 1 queen bed; living room: 1 sofa bed), with 1 bathroom. There is a washing machine, a proper desk and a lift, and fast wifi throughout. Check-in is from 3 pm with a keypad on the door; checkout is by 11 am. There is no parking at the door; we don't recommend bringing a car. No pets, please. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 8 am, as the neighbours live here all year.

I worked from here for 8 days. Fast wifi, a proper chair, good light: everything a laptop week needs. We loved the Bastille market on Sunday and Place des Vosges, both close by. The photos are accurate; if anything it is nicer in person. The best kind of office.

Montmartre is the right part of Paris to stay in, and this is the right house in it. Good speakers and good books. We stayed in more than we planned. Don't miss the Bastille market on Sunday; Camille pointed us there and it was the best thing we did. The neighbourhood is lively, so expect some noise late on Fridays.
